Object technology only delivers its promised benefits when the right objects are used. Common mistakes include too few objects, and unfocused objects--objects that are doing half a job or one-and-a-half-jobs, etc. This course is all about beginning to choose the right set of objects and relationships by examining the subject matter of the system-to-be. The other way of looking at this course is as an examination of the modern alternatives to traditional analysis techniques such as structured analysis. The notation used is that of the Unified Modelling Language (UML).
The course lasts two days. Each day will start at 09.30 and finish at 16.30. The delivery is via lecture, exercise and discussion.
The days consist of two morning sessions and three, shorter afternoon sessions, with one hour for lunch. Time will be available after 16.30 for extended discussions or related issues.
Participants might already have some experience of analysis , and perhaps some knowledge of object technology. Neither of these is necessary however--both will be fully introduced and explained. Participants will be wanting to know how to begin planning for the use of object technology, or will be wanting to know what developments there have been in analysis techniques since structured analysis.
We recommend that there are no more than 12 participants, with the best results usually obtained when there are at least 8 participants. It is possible, by negotiation and mutual agreement, for more than 12 participants to be present.
